Grind the dry food to powder form and feed the fries... Hope it will help...

Hi there
my 11 year old daughters axolotls laid a few hundred eggs and hatched before we realised they were there, over the last 6 day most of the babies have starved to death as we have no food for them and my daughter begged me to get her brine shrimp eggs which i didnt want to do and now she has a very basic setup i brought her basic stuff for eg. eggs the salt and now i read up that she needs an air pump which i have refused to buy as these fish have cost me enough as it is
so my question is how can she hatch the eggs without a pump and if she cant what else can she feed them without costing her anything cause i have told her im not shelling out anymore money on these fish
any help right now would be good we have 10 left and cause they are gold ones she really wants to keep them alive and raise them
thanks

I think any normal fish food grinded will do, as I believe they aren't choosy eater...
Btw may I ask how come you are sure that they died of starvation? If you bought the brine shrimps in a package ( the seamonkeys as advertised, as this package would cost you abit more than getting the brine shrimp
Eggs alone) I am pretty sure food do come together in the packages, like the triops ...

Actually axolotls larvae need brine shrimp (Artemia salina) for brine shrimp can act as a nutritious food for the larvae or else they will die because lack of nutrition. It's pretty easy to make your own brine shrimp batch.
1. You can use a 2 ltrs plastic bottle from any soda(coke, sprite or anything) cause it's really cheap.
2. Seal the hole of the plastic bottle using silicone and put the air hoe in the middle of the mouth bottle
3. Open the bottom of the plastic bottle using a knife or cutter
4. After that just mix the tap water with the salt
5. Dehydrate the brine shrimp cysts with bleach water (mix 25 cc of bleach+25cc of water) wait for 5 minutes, the color will change into orange.
6. Put the brine shrimp cysts into the batch
7. Turn on the aeration motor (because the Brine shrimp needs aeration when it hatched , you still have to buy aeration motor, just buy the cheapest aeration motor you can find).
If you dont want to waste any more money you can try buying copepoda as a replacement in the nearby aquarium shop.

You can hatch brine shrimp eggs without aeration but the hatch rate will be lower than usual, especially with low quality eggs. Put some eggs in a shallow tray of dechlorinated salt water. You'll need a marine salt mix or Epsom salts to make this hatch water nonetheless. The brine shrimp will hatch after 24 hours or more depending on your luck. Spending money on raising the babies is a necessity unless you have no intention of keeping the baby Axolotls in the first place.
Aside from doing this, the simplest way would be to find live Moina or Daphnia for the babies. If you can't raise them all then you should give the spawn to a local pet store that will take them, or to another hobbyist who can care for them, or to the nearest Zoo or animal park that has an Amphibian section.
