Hi guys i had just started keeping shrimps 2 months ago. hope to learn more along the way. just want to share my shrimp tank. it's a 3ft x 1.5ft x 1ft tank. this tank has been cycled for 3 weeks and the shrimps are inside for 10days liao. previously they were in a 2by1ft tank and some grade b crs got berried. very surprised! I just put in 3 small meshes of matured fissidens and the shrimps are grazing at them.

    shrimps estimated to be :
    grade b crs X 10
    grade a&s crs x 15
    grade a&s bds x 10
black KK x 1 (a surprise present from my friendssss) scare it will die but it's alive with me for a month already. happy!

there were quite a few casualties in these 2 months. maybe 20% grade s crs/bds bye bye liao.

full tank shot shows my ugly setup...

sorry i have no water parameters as i do not have any test kits at all.
tank has no chiller, running on fans only.

Oto are like sucker fish right? The fish fry thats in my tank now is swimming at the SURFACE like a guppy. Anybody have any idea?

Re: my newbie simple shrimp tank

    HuiZhong is my idol...
He is special.....and have a unique way of keeping shrimps especially on BKK.

    Why???
    1. No chiller at all housing BKK
    2. Feed his 10 or 11 pcs BKK & Crs with goldfish pellet
    3. Finally got his chiller last week but will only fix it up end of Nov

He is my idol & Hero....wahahaga....

    Anyway...Nice chap...enjoy chatting with you.
And bro...don't need ask any people for female bkk...cause you will only get sour reply. Understood?
Your recent purchase can't gauge the gender yet. Still young...and it will be slightly more difficult to gauge gender for BKK Comparing to crs.

Gender can only confirm when I reaches close to mature size. So no worries ok?
Rest assure....if you are really da*n sway...ended all male. By hook or by crook I will find a female for you even though your kk purchase wasn't from me.

You should know what I referring about...
Steady Bo? But of cause I can't afford to be generous like other forumers give free BKk la....
    Cause i different status...low class...
Even heard rumors that my shrimp not pure...
    anyway better chat in phone..
    Be patience la!!!

    Anything just watsapp me....ok?
    Keep in touch....

Lastly...,please get home and get your chiller fix up!!!!!!

15 min to 30 min top to fix up since you have your system running position the chiller connection hose to chiller standby. Shut down current system. Unhook from existing piping connect hose to canister and outlet connect to rainbar of tank. Voila chop chop job.

Re: my newbie simple shrimp tank

ii want to hide the chiller behind my rack. thinking of shifting out the rack but the tanks are filled with water.... very heavy. no place to hold the water too... the only place i can put my chiller is infront of my rack/tank... but then the cannister is small enough to place beside the rack...i would need a longer pipe to connect to the chiller... headache...
my eheim 2222 flow rate is about 500 only i think. i dun think suitable for the chiller. that add to the problem. in a delima what to do...
i need to do a planning before i get my items and set up next time... haha. shifting and arranging is a chore!

Tell me about it haha. 500l/h your chiller is going to kick in alot. Also i think using hose will be better rather than connection pipes.

Re: my newbie simple shrimp tank

updates, but no pictures currently. shifted my newly accquire bkks and wrs to another newly setup tank. previously they were together in my crs tank for a few weeks.

i had just got my chiller fixed up for my bkk tank on saturday 12th nov night and set it at 24deg when i returned home last weekend, notice some of them colour not so good and i couldn't get my full strength of shrimps in this new tank(suspect some are dead, i cannot confirm as i am home only once a week, didn't see any dead body but they could have been eaten up). so i quickly setup my chiller. now i don't have to worry about hot weather anymore.

however my crs tank is still running on fans. i don't know where can i get SS pipes to chill my Crs tank together. I need bros here to help me out. temperature i think around 26.5(night) and 27(day). Crs tank is 2months + old already. so far they are alright =)

i will update with some pictures at the end of the month as i am having exams now and won't be home till end of nov. and i definitely will catch out every shrimp and do a head count after my exams

    cheers,
    Huizhong
