eihem classic seems to be the cheaper range but have priming issue? need to have a separate pump to pump in water to jump start the filter? so troublesome? any alternative easy to use brands?

I've been using eheim classic in all my tank, never have any priming issue. No need pump to start, just fill up the in flow hose and let the gravity take care the rest

    Re: Canister filter to recommend

I just bought a brand new Eheim 2073 (latest model) at $3xx, I would say very, very good price at Petmart. Thier external filter are sold at very reasonable price. You may try checking the price for the model you want to buy there.

Are you interested to buy if I have a Eheim model 2032 canister filter to sell. Warranty expire in October 2011. Very silent unit. Used on my 2 ft tank. Comes with pipings and a rainbar (unused), Also unused Eheim sponge filter. Hoses used but still very new. Reason for selling, Just itchy hand so upgraded to newer model. Sms me at 96320966, if interested.

Eheim is the way to go for long lasting canister filter. Another option would be go for 2nd hand eheim pump which could be found in buy/sell section. alternative go for furval

For other brands you can take a look at Atman cannisters. The newer ones are the DF series

Mmm...i try many china brand cannisters i would said all ok.Price around $50 to $65 go C328 and ask the price there is cheaper.Normally if you fill the water inside the cannister to the top it will run auto...however now they have a pump button on top which can plum water into the cannister.

    Re: Canister filter to recommend

Where the mini canisters are concerned, I trust only Eden 501, and this only applies IF the tank has a low bio-load. If you have a lot of fish/shrimp in that 2ft tank then a suitable sized Eheim filter will be best. Note, the Eden 501 or even the Shiruba filter will require to be placed on the same level as the tank, so if this 2ft tank will be on a stand with no space on the side, these mini canisters will not be applicable. You might want to consider the new Eheim Aqua Compact series with the no.60 probably the best suited for a 2 ft tank. For further reading, see this review published on Practical Fishkeeping's website:

    http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.u...t.php?sid=2857

Saw these filters in action during the recent Aquarama, and I must say, I found them quite strange-looking. If you're not fussy about the pipes and such, then the Aqua Compact might be nice, if not the Classic or Pro series will suffice.
