Hi, can u tell me where do you find cardinal shrimp and how much do you pay for it?

I just started keeping freshwater cardinalshrimp and orange delight.
Any experienced keepers can share their care tips?
I read that death rate is high and they are super sensitive and hard water preferred.
Is it ok to dose supplements for crs? Like mineral plus, tonic, gravidas and rich water?
My ph is 7.5-8, temp on the average of 27.
I have coral and dragon rocks for hardscape.
I also put in some small pieces of ketapang leaves.
Hi, can u tell me where do you find cardinal shrimp and how much do you pay for it?

So far, C328 and CRS haven has it. I bought the freshwater cardinalshrimps aka white glove shrimps from crs haven. Staying in tampines, so it's more convenient for me to go crs haven. The quality also not bad.
I bought 2 for $15.
C328 price also about there, if I din rem wrongly, it's about $6 or $7 per Pc.
I ordered orange delight aka mini blue bees from petmart, those more exp, $10 per piece.

I cant say I am expert yet.... but my cardinal is surviving well for almost 2 months now... and still monitoring.
Yr PH seem okie.. but temp wise.. it would be good to bring it up to 29. Mine due to air-con room (24x7).. I set it at 30.
If you can measure the ppm... do keep it at 200++ and above.... they can survive up to 400++ ppm. (Our tap water is only at 70-90 ppm)
Keeping some sulawesi snails helps too.
Good luck!

Can the temp go so high? Mine is 27 cos I have a fan. On humid days, can go up to 28 even with fan. My LFS said try not to go above 30. My place can be really hot at noon.
But if they can adapt to so high temp, I'll remove the fan.
Ok, I'll check out the ppm and the snails too!
Thanks!

Yes.. they can go high... infact... I am using a heater in my tank, (due to air-con room conditions)
But watch out for direct sunlight.. cos we dont want to have algae problem

Thanks. What do you do to keep the ppm on high side for them?
My tds is 700+.
They are doing great.
Lots of babies.

Wow. I can't wait for mine to be berried. The sign of having them berried means my tank is stable for them. I just started keeping them for a week, I had 1 casualty.
The others look good to me (touchwood).
To keep up the TDS, I should dose mineral plus for them?
I removed most of my plants, leaving the moss balls behind cos I see them happily picking on it.
I also got a baby Sulawesi snail, my LFS told me it's getting abit hard to get the snails already.
I read somewhere the shrimps and snails are getting very much lesser, due to the mass fishing activities.
Maybe in time to come, sulawesi species will be considered endangered plus their breeding rate and numbers are slower than others.
If you wana sell your babies, let me know! Lol.![]()

Let me join in the fun.
I just bought a 40x27cm tank due to space constraint.
Just complete laying the undergravel filter, coral chip and sand, now cycling.
After cycling will add in my favourite cardinal shrimps.
Now just thinking of what filter to get. Eheim is out of my budget, thinking of using boyu EFU-05 but not sure if the filtration is good enough as I don't want too much of the flow as I read the shrimps don't like too much flow. Any advice please let me know, thank you

or GEX hang on will be better?
What is the flow rate required for this 40x27cm tank of mine, think the height is about 25cm?
Boyu EFU-05 is 150L/HR

I think your tank is not too big? I suppose hang-on filters would be good enough, those with some space to put in medias.
Mine is also about the same size as yours, about 1 feet in length, and i'm only using a hof with medias...
I did try using a cannister on this tank before, I got to raise the height of my tank to fit to the cannister.
And yes, basically, Sulawesi shrimps are quite slow swimmers, they do not like strong current.

Thanks. So I'll continue dosing mineral plus, bioplus, gravidas, lol.
But on the water change, I gathered info that the shrimps are super sensitive to water parameters, so I'll add water bit by bit on intervals.
Really need alot of effort.

Oh btw, Pet Mart (I think that is the name) at serangoon north have Sulawesi shrimps too, not on display, but need to order fr Chinese man worker. They charge 10 pieces at $50, but need to collect within 2hours on delivery day (which will be a thurs).
I jus placed an order for 1 pack collecting this thurs.

Oh I did buy from petmart too. Mini blue bees aka orange delight, only they have it. But the color is more to purple, i don't mind paying abit more since it's pretty unique.
Same, $10 per piece.
But crs haven selling $15 for 2, but diff sulawesi species, ended up I bought a bunch from them.
$50 for 10 is good deal. Which type species?
Collection within 2 hrs I guess it's cos they are too sensitive to remain in air bags for too long. can't take the risk else ko very fast.

I like to starring my cardinal too, too bad i have long holiday coming, so ican't start anything atm. I have slowly buying my gears.
I have 1.5ft tank, got my lihts, and bought eden 501 which i will replace the intake using sponge.
I am looking forward to start this project!

1.5ft sounds good for them, small size and really pretty to look at. But keeping water parameters stable may be challenging task.
I got 2 die offs already from my total if 18 pcs. I suspect maybe 1 or 2 more dead but I din see their bodies, unless they still hiding.
I'm already trying to make my tank as open as possible.
