Yup, I use that clear plastic with yellow stopper inside. Same problem. Someone suggested to use a hi-quality brand check-valve (like BioPlast or Dennerle).

I have this check valve with a piece of metal spring inside. Its about 6 months old and the spring is starting to rust. Also, the whole check valve gets filled with water after I turn off the CO2.
Is this a common problem with the metal check valve?
Anyone using the clear plastic one with a yellow insert inside? Like the one being sold @ NA.

One thing I do is to have a long tube between the bubble counter and the CO2 regulator/solenoid, and place (actually hang) the bubble counter way way below the solonoid so if the water passes the check valve and seeps into the tube, it will have hard time to go the tube reaching the solenoid. Some also suggested to use a couple check valves (like: bubble counter -> tube -> check vale -> tube -> check valve -> solenoid or regulator).
I also face the same problem with plastic check valves, i am also using to check valves after the bubble counter before connecting to the regulator.
I am also positioning my bubble counter below my Co2 tank outlet.
Seldom see backflow nowdays.
