    these r the offsprings from my A. Tefe (too bad, the tank is without a filter so its kinda filled with dirt particles floating, which in turn difficult for me to choose a good picture

    yes they are from the cichilds family...dwaft cichlids. Juggler, remember gimmi a call before you go off from your office so i can est. wht time i must leave my house =) you wanna see apisto also can, come over =) comfirm wif me later.

    yup koah fong, they r dwarf cichlid.. this interesting guys can put into a community tank without much probs.. they usually go by their own business.. unless they have spawned and are guarding their young.. otherwise, they r very interesting to look at

    Simon: When they are spawning, do they dig into the gravel? Afraid they disturb the base fertiliser and plants.

    They spawn on rocks,driftwood etc. they don't disturb the gravel liek the ram does =) in the wild they lay their eggs on leaf litters ... koah fong come over my place have a look aslo can since u coming over to pick up the heater =0

    like what benetay pointed out, they do pretty good in a planted tank.. no uprooting of plants or anything of that sort

    wats the longest lifespan you guys had experience of apistos?

    do they live to 8-12 years like their bigger cousins too in aquarium conditions?

    at least 2 yrs... there is exception where apisto grow till 5yrs old.. there is a study conduction stating that an average of 24months
