Try use some thin sewing string to tie them to a 'well soaked' drift wood. Fishing line is not good, cotton sewing line will 'melt' after sometime, and by then the plants would have adhere to the driftwood.
Can any bro help to ID this plant and advise how to plant on soil as this plant tends to float. Thanks in advance.

Yup it does have root
Mind getting a clearer picture which at least shows the leaves shape? place the plant on land so that the water does not blur the picture. But looks like HC to me too.
