I think the chiller cannot be used anymore and the best thing to do is to give it to me[]

Can lah I think. Just bring the chiller to a shop that specialised in fridge maintenance and get them to service it first. I think that will work.

Else you can also give it to me in the last resort (before you give to anyone else)[]

    Bro,

Why dont you try it by running it thru an empty tank of water and see if it cold?

Yes, that is what I think also.

I will run the tank with it and monitor the thermostat in it to see it is working. As it is a analog temp setting.

Thanks.....I also still welcome suggestions.....the more the merrier[]

It's simple actually... just test it, if it works... well, it will work. That's Teco. Actually, Bioplast do service chillers if you're intersted.

You can also bring it to AquaTechnic to service. I think they are the agent in SG. Call your options and ask price first.

BTW, I'm moving this thread to the Equipment forum.

I suggest you bring the chiller to System and Control. I bought my RA680 there for servicing. No problems.

I gotten the chiller and check the model it is TECO RA240.

I still need help on how many horsepower does this chiller had? And is it sufficient and efficient to cool a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft tank down to around 25 degree to 27 degree.

Will be appreciate to heard any suggestions........

Bro, its 1/4 hp. If yours is planted tank, should be a problem... how efficient it is will depend on the actual envn where you put the chiller. Take note that this is the max (4x2x2) that it can take for cooling it to 25-27. You gotta upgrade it if you upgrade it to a bigger tank next time.

Is it possible for me to know how long the chiller take to cool down the 4x2x2 planted tank. Actually, doesn't matter to me as I am not going to upgrade any further......[:]

Another, question is I heard that the chiller once leave for too long never use won't able to last. Is it true?

This is brought by my friend also.

Or I just bring it to service it first?

    Thanks.........

You could always call the Teco agent and ask them. You can also ask them if they are willing to examine the chiller for free or a small fee. Get them to call you back with a quotation for any necessary servicing or repairs. From there you can decide if you want to buy the chiller or bargain for a discount from your friend.

    Clement,
My 4X2X2 tank is using the RA240. If you noticed the the nameplate it shows about 0.3** kW. That about 0.5hp. Anyway, from the graph this RA240 can cool up to 23~24 deg with the ambient temp 30 deg. So need not worry to much about it's capability.

My lighting is 2 X 150W MH light and my setting is 26 deg it will start again when temp is at 28 deg. With this conditions, the chiller will start every night at about 1.30pm and runs for around 1~2 hours (depending on ambient temp).

I too bought it 2nd hand. I just brought it home, plugged it in and let it rip.... been running close to a year now without any major problems.
    Cheers!!

    Hi Sherchoo,

So is your RA240 an analog one? Cause my's is a analog one where I need to tune to the temp I want. Now trying out the thermostat now.

    Cheers......And thanks

Is there an analog chiller control. Mine is considered digital where the display is a 7-segment display. Set the temp I want and let it rip. You may want to compare with a thermometer as the temp indicator may not reflect the actual tank temp.
    Cheers!!
