Picked up an old 2 feet tank that people threw away at the bottom of my block on my way out for work and now it is my new CRS tank.

    Tank: 60cm x 30cm x 45cm
    Background: NIL
    Soil: ADA Amazonia II
Flora: Hair grass, Christmas moss(to be added later) and some low tech stem plant
    Light: 2 x 24W T5HO

    Leak test...

    Equipment ready...

Set up in progress on Day 0. Blue hue is due to the yet to be replaced actinic tube that came with the light fixture that I got from relative's marine tank.

Minor planting on Day 1. Hair grass are from the remaining that I have been cultivating in my other tank. (Oops, sorry about the dish. Forgotten to remove before taking photos)

The moss on wire mesh are flame moss which I am cultivating it there temporary for my Nano.

Haha, this is the best alarm to let me know if the tank is leaking when the power trips.
Anyway just joking, it was an interim setup while I figure out a better way to route my wires without extra cost as the tanks are quite far from the power point.

You might want to spread the power plugs. Too close might short circuit.

Thanks, Already spread out. Now the timer is extending out to a single power strip where all the lights and fan are plug in to. Filters are on a different power strip.
Anyway the old setting had been running for months on my Nano far far away from the tank.
As mentioned, the setting in the first photo is temporary. it is gone in later photos. I am as concern with the safety so no worries.

Hehe, you gonna have to wait for 1 month or so as I intend to wait for the hair grass to spread. Maybe you will see a snail in there once I have the cycle.

The wood I got is BAD wood. it is not properly treated and confirm not natural DW or BW. It is man made one.
It is decaying in the tank and getting moldy.

    Some update take yesterday.
Transferred my Marimo Moss ball over from my other tank.

    Re: Simply another CRS tank

Oh oh.. Green Hair Algae attack on Christmas moss and mosquito larvae found wriggling in the soil area. Need to get some Yamato in to tackle the algae. Added 2 Oto yesterday so spot algae is taken care off for now together with a Horned Nerite snail. Suppose to get mosquito fish to tackle the larvae but looking at the surface agitation created by the output, I doubt they have chance to grow up and leave the tank. The eggs must be laid during the first few days before I install the filter while the water was still.

Today measured traces of NitrAte at around 5-10 ppm. Wohoo 2 more weeks and I can start adding shrimps.

bro regarding the mould like stuff excreting from your bogwood, its actually very normal when the bogwood initially gets soaked.. usually i leave it and let it go away by itself, and it doesn't reappear after the wood has been fully soaked..

Thanks. It is almost all gone now. I knew about it before I got it.
And thanks to the snail, the wood is nice and smooth now.

Rearrange the tanks onto a proper 3 feet rack.
