Just wondering what are your thoughts on keeping Betta Channoides with Samurai Gourami.

Re: Samurai Gourami with Betta Channoides?

I havent kept samurai gourami before, but i did keep licorice gouramis and betta imbellis together, and betta channoides and licorice gouramis together.

They are ok and do not fight with each other. Aggression is between the same species (flaring between males, males chasing females), hence i guess they should coexist quite well together. As long as you provide enough hiding places and a big enough tank, they will be alright.

On the other hand, when i kept betta coccina and ctenopoma ansorgii (an african ladybrinth fish) together, the former was quite scared of the latter and remained at the surface whereas the latter occupied the lower areas of the tank. I separated them as i could see that the betta coccina was quite scared.

Hope this helps even though it is not totally relevent.

I've kept channoides with sparkling gouramis before with no problems. the channoides pretty much ignore other fishes...even endler babies which I had at one time. I also have kept them with licorice gouramis and honey gouramis with no problems whatsoever. Unless the samurai gouramis are really aggressive, there should be no problems.
