Well for me every week vacuum the soil for crs shit I take about twenty percent water change.and if you are reusing your soil need to see its age as old soil may have lost its ph buffering properties.

Hi guys, after being intro to the world of crs by a friend of mine. I plan to convert one of my planted tank to a crs tank.
Just a query, should I do maintenance on the soil? Like vaccum once a week? Or left it as it is. I plan to reuse my ehiem canister filter and maybe use back my Ada ammazona soil as base and top up the toP level using mosura soil ( I love mOsura soil colour).

I don't touch my soil once stable.. Just siphon water everywhere during water change.. I do 5-10% water change only..

should not vacuum your soil . Ada soil is known to release ammonia when disturbed/stirred. When everything settles down already , have minimal contact with the soil as it might cause ammonia spike if there are huge disturbances.
Aspiring to be.
better not to do that unless your PH keep go higher then change all the soil.....

Thk for all the advice. I stick to majority, dnt disturb the soil base.
