    Hi guys,

Have a rather simple question (i think). How do you secure java ferns (currently having winderlov) to driftwood when the plantlets I have are all from old leaves.

And, is Bolbitis heudelotii an easy plant to grow in a co2-less and low light shrimp tank? What are the things I have to take care for this plant.

    Cheers

You just tied the old leaf with the plantlets onto the driftwood. The plantlets should attach themselves to the wood and start growing.

I've no experience in Bolbitis... need others to advice you on that.

Bolbitis needs ample of Co2. To grow it under high lightings, cool water and co2 is essential.

My water temperature is hovering around 28C and the leaves are somewhat thinner unlike the feathery-leathery semi-translucent broad leaves you can get for colder water.

So Bolbitis should be kept in co2-rich tank with ample light instead of co2-less tank like that of other ferns?

I have grown bolbitis is CO2 less tanks, the only difference is that the leaves would not be as big. But it will not die for sure. In fact, if you visit choong sua, he has some bolbitis that is just hanging around is some of teh tanks containing fishes (ie. no CO2, plenty O2, no "nutrients" other than fish poo and the plant is still thriving).

Cold water is relatively important but not high lights. My bolbitis has translucant green leaves, high or low lights!
