Try mollies. They cleared up the hair algae issue I had.
Two of my mini fiss on lava rock has been affected and i took them out. Any chemicals i can soak them in to melt the algae away?i like it fast if not i will put all the affected plants at the breeding box and i buy yamatos this is my last resort.thanks for reading

American Flag Fish works as well and so do Rosy Barbs. Some moss might get pulled out as a result.
After the bleach solution, flush it lots of times and soak in anti-chlorine soultion as well.

When the algae has turned white or looks like it's dead/coming off the equipment, wash them equipment throughly and soak in water with anti-chlorine.
They're ready to be returned to the tank when you cannot smell chlorine on the equipment.
Don't soak too long or your mini fissiden will die. Do a 1 part bleach 20 part water solution and soak for about 1 min then rinse it and soak in dechlorinator with double or triple dose.Originally Posted by |squee|

You can also use H2O2 which is much friendlier than bleach, you don't even need to wash. You can get H2O2 from pharmacy like Watson or Guardian.

Is the infected area very large? IFf it affects only a few fronds of the mini fissiden just manually remove it. Chemical may hurt your shrimps.
bleach confirm will hurt if not clean properly, H2O2 also if overdose problem is have to try and error your self

Yes agree! Yamato shrimp is effective in eating hair algae. I had similar problem with my fissiden. After I popped a few Yamato inside, the algae was gone in couple of days. Beware you dont keep big fishes inside though as the big fishes will eat the shrimps.As I am done with my project I shall put here I have made a tank of Yamato shrimps and I put all my infected plants inside to my surprise the next day all gone super hardworking man!! My 2 Yamato so lazy. Don't want to eat hair algae. So useless. End up trying hydrogen peroxide
Were there other sources of food in the tank? One way to try is to reduce feeding amount/interval. Once the shrimps get hungry, they'll eat anything
