    Hi All,

Currently have a 1.5ft tank running for about 1 week. Cycling with a piece of market prawn. Recently, notice a layer of very thin bio film like matter on the surface of the water. What is this film and if it is harmful.

    Parameters of my tank
    Tank - 1.5 x 1 x 1ft
Filter - Dolphin C-700 with only Mr Aqua CR inside
    Aquazonic light - 16w x 2 tube 10hours photo time
Benibachi soil with Mosura Old Sea Mud
Additive - Mosura BT-9 and Seacham Excel
    Water conditioner - Mosura Shizen

Flora - Java Fern, Java moss and Taiwan moss.

    Ammonia - 0.5mg
    Nitrite 1.0mg
Temp kept at 28 degree with fan.

Its just protien flim from your market prawn. All you need is an air pump with airstone. It will disperse the flim.

you may want to add active charcoal during this time in the water or filter to remove the odour

Ya adding air stone will help to aerate the stuff on the surface back into the filter
also speeds up the cycling process with oxygen for BB

Advise not to use excel during cycling. BB need oxygen to thrive and multiply fast

try to jack up the ammonia to 3 - 4 if you intend to load more livestock, will be good investment in later stage. otherwise progressively can add more livestock + Bt-9 and repeat again many times.
