How much did you add? And fertilizer is not suppose to be added to a shrimp tank unless you are really sure it is 'shrimp safe'..

Anyway, I added EasyLife Profito to my shrimp tank before & shrimps are doing fine, except that I am adding half the dosage...

Different tank has different absorption rate for fertilizer.. If you have lots of plants, the plants will take in the fertilizers fast but if your tank is not, then why put fertilizer?

It's hard to balance between plants and shrimps... Tested & proven by myself in my old thread of my aquascape tank with shrimps..

I added 1.5 ml. I've already reduce the dosage. Suppose to add 2 ml.

I used to add 1ml of EasyLife Profito daily with 5ml of Excel.. Shrimps are ok.. But I think it's really a tank to tank basis.. (Please don't try this at home)

So my advise is try avoid fertilizer if possible.. It's hard to balance between planted and shrimps..

Noobz & Guppy77, both of you had casualties after water change yet, other than 'storing water', none mention anything about anti-chloramine additives or in-line treatment. So what do you guys do before/after water changes and at what percentage?

I've seen GC uncle dose liquid ferts into the shrimp tanks but he only goes by guesstimates... a squirt of this, a squirt of that!! He's not a plant-guy, so if you go into specifics, he'll probably tell you, "use eyeball and see... agak agak lor". As far as I'm concerned, what's important is that those shrimps didn't die nor do I want mine at home to konk off either.

In those almost-2ft tanks; Lush x2, Growth x1, Essence K x1 and if there are reddish plants, then Vivid x1 as well. For those smallish 1ft partitions, he dilutes all 3 into a tub of water and uses a bulb syringe to 'feed' the tanks. For chelated iron, I think, he drips Ferrum (has a rusty scent).

Personally, I use the 'dilute method' for my home tanks since these are poorly lit with mostly Bolbitis heudelotii, different forms of java ferns and Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite'.
I'm back & keeping 'em fingers wet,

Hi bro for wc I normally use water stored for 1 week. I normally add Azoo Biopro, anti chorramine, Mosura mineral plus, Mosura Old Sea Mud but recently add in the additional new purchase Mosura BT and also Borneo-wild Lush. Don't think the problem is cause Morsura BT but suspect is Lush.

Noobz & Guppy77 sorry to hear your loses. Maybe let me share some precautions to take. Do you have a ph meter to monitor your ph on a day to day basis? How about temperature? Your kh/gh measurements? Have you measured your stored/aged water ph before adding to your tank for wc? Maybe is the perimeter swing that caused the shrimps to die. It might not be the liquid fert. Do take your water test frequently especially if your tank is small.
Just my 2 cents worth of advice.

You chose to learn the lesson in a painful way. =) I did that too... strictly no fertilizer. Sometimes even when I tried to trim the plants, the shrimps died too. This is how sensitive they are towards water.
