your way should be ok. You can drain as much as you can to reduce the water movement. Also get people to help you, so you can move it slowly. Fire red quite hardy.
My current "stand" is a ikea kitchen metal framed stand however it is slowly bending overtime due to my tank of fire reds weights a lot and i am worried that the metal stand will give way.so now i have bought a proper stand but how do i transfer my 2x1x1ft tank filled with water from the old stand to the new stand? My current plan is sucking 60% of water to a pail first then move the tank over then slowly put back the water that was previously sucked? My worry is that the water parameters will shoot up as there is movement.any other safer or practical way? Thanks a lot for viewing

Shouldnt be a problem, i just shifted my tank of crs to a rack few weeks back. Just try not to have too much sudden movements that will cause the water to stir up the soil.
I guess what you should do is remove at least 80% of water and move. You might want to get all your shrimps out into the pails holding your tank water. After which, move the tank over and let the filter run while you slowly top up the water into the tank. Try not to stir the soil too much to prevent ammonia spike. The filter will also clear up some of the debris that the soil will give out when you put the water back into the tank. After which u can slowly acclimatize your shrimps back into your tank. Reason why I ask you to remove most water is because if your tank is not the solid kind, the tank might crack from the pressure and handling. Better to be safe than sorry ya? Hehe..
Mad about shrimps!

I personally have just shifted my 3 x1.5 x1.5 ft tank twice within 2 weeks due to Opennet installation. What I have done. Suck 80 to 90 % of tank water and put in container, leave some water in it so that you need not to net out your shrimps. Than transfer the tank to you new stand, try not to shake the tank to much that will cause teh water in the tank to have to much movement. Once you place your tank on teh new stand, slowly top up the water that you have sucked out back into the tank. remember, not to rush... I took 3hrs per shifting.
Just sharing my own experience.
So far after shifting... shrimp are happy and berried....

I did my move before and it did kill quite a far bit of my shrimps.
Depending on the muscle of individual. I feel that 2x1x1 feet with substrate and 80% water drew out is also very heavy for a person to carry. Unless the height of old stand and new stand is about the same, and placed them close to each other, you can still drag it across. I am surprised that a metal stand from ikea cannot hold 2x1x1? I wonder what kind of metal it was make of. Curious. Anyway, I think this is a good thread because many people will face similar situation in one way or the other. I almost broke my back shifting my 1.5x1x1 tank to my dining table and have my arms nearly sprained...

I still young so I can manage to carry my tank with soil with 30% with water. So yeah success !
Congratulations! Be sure to monitor your tank for any leaks over the next few days ya?

Be more careful as you transfer your tank to new stand. a tiny stone below the tank as you lay the tank onto the stand will be disasters in the future
Getting poison everyday
I put polystyrene under my tank all the time so should be ok .even if got rocks it will just make a hole
So bro xconnect, have you shift the tank already?
