Thanks! The back drop is just a normal aquarium backdrop made from styrofoam. This time I decided to keep the bottom relatively bare by inverting all the driftwood and going for a different look. Initially I too was worried about fights due to the lack of cover. Surprisingly, there are no fights since my oregon has well established his dominance and no one contests him. But'll I'll monitor, maybe add in more ketapang leaves as leaf litter?

Does anyone know whats the difference between sp. Oregon and panduro or nijsseni? I can't spot the difference and pictures from the internet show so many variations.

The diff between them is the black marking on their body... If you look carefully there is a big different... Oregon the black marking is round black dot while other species is is not round or dont even have it...

Thanks for pointing that out. I've also heard from others that oregon lacks the first black ray of dorsal fin compared to panduro, and females have an additional black spot at the anal fin. But yet again, if you google pictures of these 3 variants there are so many variations and labels that you don't know which is which!

Very nice male oregon. The female seems to be in the breeding mode already.

You got this pair from AMK??

Thanks! Yup got them from JZX. Had difficulty deciding which pair to bag. The female seems rather uninterested in the male's courtship thus far haha... I'm in the midst of setting up a separate tank for the pair, but a little rusty as I've been away from apisto breeding for a short while.

From a fellow forummer in AQ a long time ago when he ordered them from Germany. I'm a little out of touch as to where you can get them now, perhaps you could try NKS in Kovan or GC in Clementi.

These caves are nice man, I only have one and it's a gift from Bro Apistoinka.....NKS don't have as I have been there quite often. I think these caves are hard to get these days...what a pity.
