i better go buy vinegar tonight...
i jus tested using white wine vinegar(for my salad dressing)... nothing happened... and now the rock smells tasty. lol

He means soak the rock or a part in vinegar .. (acidic)
If the rock fizzle in it, most likely is alkaline or contains limestone
Thus putting it in water may affect water parameter.
I will say after the vinegar test, put in the tap water with XYZ parameter and test again 2 weeks later to check if GH has increase..
