    Hi guys,

I am sure many of you have experienced this:
Tank water temperature and room temperature is different (even if you are not using any chiller/heater).

I am wondering how drastic can the temperature difference be.

I would like to seek the expert advice of you bros on whether the temperature difference in my case is abnormal.

Room temperature: 25C, tank water temperature: 29C, temperature difference: 4C.

I am using a Dyamx IQ3 (9-litre) placed in my air-conditioned office, with 7W PL light, and CO2 injection via a spinning bioball reactor (Dymax MD-103) which is connected to the stock powerhead within the sump compartment. Light and CO2 sync-ed to switch on together for 9hrs daily.

    Thanks!

Re: Tank Temperature VS Room Temperature

all your equipments will contribute to your heat load gain in your tank.

    lights - 7w
    spinning bio ball reactor
    stock power head.

all these will increase your water temperature.

plus your tank is only 9 litres, its very easy to have significant heat gain.

    Thanks bro eviltrain..
So the difference of 4 degrees is normal in your opinion?
Based on my past experiment, I do know that my PL light is responsible for an increase in temperature of 1 degree C.
I was wondering if my powerhead is malfunctioning and causing the remainder 3-degree gain.

i will suggest use HOB rather than install the pump inside the tank... fan will help lower down your tank temp

    Thanks bros for your comments!
I shall try to come up with an idea to replace the powerhead..
maybe with a re-engineered HOF to suck up water from the sump and pour into the main tank compartment?

Re: Tank Temperature VS Room Temperature

My tank always stays around 4F above room temp. In the summer time I was hitting 90F-92F with no heater . With 2 types of filter system I got the same temp. Thinking that my first system of BlueLine 55HD 1100gph pump , Nu-Clear 533,547 filter was causing my high temps I switch over to a Eheim 2262 filter with the same temps

i think its your light too? produce heat near water surface for 9 hours.
have you touch the light at the 7-9 hour of usage?
