Haha bro - not a plant pro, but use Black oyama!! Its nicer... just dont paste it like how i did... Black itself will make the shrimp have a deeper shade of coloration so as to camouflouge themselves to the surroundings...
Hi,
I am new to aquatic plants and would like some help with the ID of plants in my new setup so that I can read up more on them..and the rocks too if possible..
I only know 2 of them, Jap Hairgrass and Windelov
With the exception of the Taiwan moss and the Riccia moss, I got all the other plants from LFS, all of which were rather clueless as to the ID and requirements of the plants.
Tank - 2Ft (L60 B30 H36), just setup a week ago
Soil - ADA New Amazonia
No CO2
Using only LED light, tank is in my balcony so it gets a fair bit of natural light.
Please ignore the cheapo internal filter inside the tank, it will be removed soon.
I am intending to keep cherries, yellow shrimps and ghost shrimps. Would it be nicer to use black or blue oyama paper to cover the back of the tank?

Been awhile since i last kept shrimps/ fishes, please give me your kind guidance!
Any close up pictures? looks like Cambomba in the left background, Japanese hairgrass, Windelov, not sure the rest.
Advice from boss Felix
Hey Alex! You are really on the forum all the time! Thought of using black too, but wanted to hear if other people have different opinions and rationale.
Hi Diazman, yes did some googling and it looks like Cabomba to me, nice plant, I like the look.
Yes yes I am on the forum most of the time, either with my iPhone or a computer at my Office... Haha sorry can't help u much in plants ID, I only know mosses.

right fore ground looks like ricca too. heheh
Advice from boss Felix
Yup foreground is taiwan moss on the left and riccia on the right, got them off another bro here.
Its more of the 3 small plants in the centre and the midground plant on the right, behind the riccia, that i am curious about..and the white-ish rock on the left.
Is anyone able to confirm if the 2 small pieces of rock on the right are the same as the bigger piece on the "plateau" on the left? Dragon Stone/Rock?
The 3 small plants looks like Tonina fluviatilis - http://plantedtanks.net/plants/tonin...p-fluviatilis/.
Hi Zenith, yes that looks like what i am having. seems like a challenging plant to have, thanks for the ID!!
My guess .
the stem plant beside wisteria with broad long leave not sure, my friend gave me before , although its a rooted stem plant, it survived floating. Need more light, otherwise the bottom leaves will melt and fall.
The left white rock unknown .. where did you get it from
Have you test the white rock properties thru vinegar test? and the GH of the tank since you are intending to keep shrimps
Better not to keep cherry and yellow > Same family genus , will interbreed to come out uglies. Will suggest to keep single color colony 1st. If you have budget go for higher grade color.
cherry > sakura > fire red
yellow > Sunkist > fire yellow
usually red will stand out against greenery .
yellow will stand out against blue. Usually we dont use blue gravel..or blue plants..
Not to keep ghost shrimp also . big competitor and multiply super fast

Hey bro marimo, thanks for your help for the ID and for your efforts in adding the IDs into the pic.
"Blyxa japonica?" is actually Jap Hairgrass, i had some leftover Jap HG so i planted it there. but the 3 plants in front of the Calari seems to be blyxa japonica.
The right corner behind the Calari rocks are actually Windelov and thanks to your Id, Wisteria. Just did a google on wisteria and confirmed it. I had a few stalks of Wisteria so planted them to the left and right of my windelov. Think its not really clear from the pic, no Ludwigia green in there though.
Nope did not do any tests for the white rock, got it off another bro from the forum who himself got it off another bro in the forum. I just liked the colour and the lines on the rock so i took it. Btw, do you know where I can find more info regarding the calari rock? I did searches online for calari rock/stone and returned little info.
I have also heard that keeping yellows and reds might produce uglies, but the contrast of the 2 in the tank looks really good. I have not got any yellows yet, so might just wait and see how it goes.
Thanks again!
