    Hi Brothers,

I have seen this plant...it is rather rare and unique. Chinese call it 'Hong Yu Shan' red umbrella.

Does anyone has more information on this plant?
like: origin, water and light parameter, habitat.

And finally, where can I get this plant?
SG? TW? HK? Thailand? or Phillipines..??

    Thansk for your help.

It's native to Florida, there's tons of it, grows well in the winter here.
    Semi slow growing.

We got plenty of this plant.

    Wow!

Mine never got to be that red! How envious! Does it need lotsa iron and light? Or is it another typical red plant with the typical conditions required?

    Cheers!

This thread is about "Need information on: Proserpinaca palustris".
Let's leave the buy/sell/regards to PM please.

According to some web sites that I've surfed around, this plants requires :
    - temperature 22 - 30 C
    - ph 6 - 8
    - light medium - high
    - growth rate medium - fast

From these requirements, I guess it is pretty much suitable for our aquariums here, since Florida is pretty much a tropical place like Singapore.

As tom barr mentioned, this plant is native to Florida. Quoted from University of Florida, Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants's webpage.
Marsh mermaid-weed is a frequent native nearly throughout Florida (Wunderlin, 199. It is found in marshes, ponds and canals.

Marsh mermaid-weed is found in most of the eastern half of the U.S. and Canada (Kartesz, 1999).
Just for additional info, Mermaid weed is also an aquatic herb.
