Guys, I am looking for this equipment that can simulate the lighting period and the amount of light that is switch on when it is activated. I am not sure what brand is available in the market right now. If anyone has seen or is currently using it, do reply here. My aim is to hook it up with my pl light that I am currently using. Thanks!

you won't find such a device for pl/fl light.
to have a dimming feature, the ballast or eballast that you are using must have this feature built in.
else not possible to have dimming feature.

alternative solution, get multiple timers and hook each ballast/eballast to individual timers.
set timing to switch on your pl tubes sequentially with delay.
you'll be able to simulate dawn, dusk and 'regular' overcast.

Thanks guys 4 the response! I will try with multiple timer 1st. I have seen one by ATI over in SGREEFCLUB forum but the light set is a bit too wide to fit my tank. I have only 2 six inch wide length space to place the light set but the set width exceed the space I have. Anyway, thanks again guys!

It is not so much to do with T5 or T8(normal FL). It is the ballast as most have mentioned.

I believe Aquatechnic have a few systems that can do as what you mentioned. The one I have seen is for MH lighting. If you are interested you can look for them. But I would expect such systems to cost a few thousand $.

not only T5 is dimmable but PL is dimmable too. just need a more expensive ballast to control the output.
