Same issue with my weeping moss turning brown. The moss is not supported by co2 injection. I am wondering whether is weeping moss is really that co2 dependent unlike other moss that can survive without injecting co2
Hi,
I just purchased some weeping moss. Was trying to find some info on it, but it appears that the info is pretty limited.
Was wondering if this moss will die on me? It seems like some of them are brown already. I'm keeping it in a microwave tupperware for now, and it is attached to a piece of wood.

I don't think that weeping moss is co2 dependent but it will need certain amount of light. Mine are under 32W PL lights with irregular dosage of excel (can take weeks before I do dosage).
I do have some queries on weeping moss too. Is there a top and bottom surface? Because. Mine are not 'weeping' at all.

What information are you looking for? Browning is quite typical especially in the initial stages as the moss is still getting used to the new environment. I've had mine in a tuperware for weeks before I tied them to the driftwood and they were still fine. Just change the water once in while to get some 'freshness'.. (I did it once a week).
Mosses are not CO2 'hungry' and will grow nicely without it, but like all plants - CO2 always help!
May know where you bought your weeping moss? Im look king for it
o... I see, thanks.
y618 sells weeping moss untied, forgot how much I bought them though.
Most moss are not difficult to keep, just give them enough light and cool water they will thrive. My weeping moss is doing great in T5 24w 10hrs daily under fan. The lighting hours can cut down if you spotted algae. With chiller they look more attractive, under fan they will spread out messily but still maintain their characteristics of "weeping". Different moss has different growing rate, just be patient.

Weeping moss is easily kept, I got quite abit in 2 of my tanks, 1 with co2 and 4 x24w t5ho and another tank with no co2 and 2 x 24w t5ho, both set with lightning on for 10 hours each day. Moss generally are low requirements plants. As for the browning issue, one of the bro has earlier stated as the moss is getting used to a new water condition. Another problem that causes browning may also be the moss being too thick and the lower part dying off.
Bro shadow, do you need alot of weeping? I think you stayed quite near me, can give you some if you want to. Drop me a SMS if you need k ? Don't spend extra $$ buying ehh.
Been awhile since i last kept shrimps/ fishes, please give me your kind guidance!
Hi, I'm having problem with this moss as well. I have it in my tank for almost a month and it didnt grow. I'm wondering what did I do wrong as well.
My setup - 3ft tank.
- 2x39w (previously 4x39w but realise moss dont need so much light)
- 7hrs a day
- CO2 @ 2bps
- temp keep at 25.5 to 27degree - chiller.
Bro, it might be due to the difference in water conditions and it may take awhile to grow. Weeping moss is 1 of the moss which has a slow growth rate, i had mine for 3 months and it dint grow alot alot either. Just a little bit more. Maybe it does grow abit in your tank but you dint notice it? As long as it did not brown off, die and rot away, it should be growing (with new fonds appearing, maybe )

Welcome bro. I am currently experimenting with the Weeping moss, with 2 different tanks, 1 with fert and Co2 and 4 X24 Watt light and the other just 2 X 24 W with my livestocks in it. Want to see which will grow faster or nicer, to my preference.

The 1 which i pumped Co2 and fert grew algae on the rocks that i tied the weeping on....
Cant really tell the difference yet as it has only been 1 month apart - but i do see that the weeping indeed grow nicer and faster (by abit) in my co2 injection tank.

1 month and not much difference? Means they really quite slow .. haha
Besides nicer and abit faster, how about the colour and size of frond/leaves? For other moss, they seem to be a bit "fatter" with CO2.
The fonds are indeed abit fatter from what i observed, but then again, 1 month is really too fast for me to make any judgement as i feel if not inspected closely, the difference right now is not very obvious...
