need advice on filter

Hi,
is it advisable to use a filter currently in a cycled tank but tank has got some algae issues like bba and bga? or is it better to clean the filter and get new filter media?
btw, the filter is an eheim ecco.

Just wash the affected area like the piping and such..Media wise, if you wish to seed in BB from the old tank to the new tank then use the existing media. If you put in new media its as good as cycling the tank again. I personally plug and play my filters from an established tank to a new tank. The algae doesn't affect me much haha
