It is commonly said that light tubes are only good for 1yr odd before the emitted light spectrum changes.

So, I'm wondering what you guys do with the old tubes that you replace, which are still working except that it doesn't emit the desirable light spectrum anymore.

My T5 tubes are almost 1 yr old and am thinking I should be replacing them, but wondering what can I do with the old tubes...

Use them to light unplanted tanks or work areas. My plants are still growing under 2 + year old T8s.

As I read somewhere on the net.

T8 light mostly is used in office type. last longer then normal fl light and more power saving.
T5 roughly the same but more spectrum and brighter.
MH = metal halide : Used in stadium type.

Aquazonic is the most common brand and other like hopar and more expensive ones too.

    Hope it helps.
