Eheim ecco normally have issue with the handle break. It should be OK if you use it carefully.

Okay! i think im getting the model 2224. Though it's a old model, i will still get it.

Reason being, classic is an old model too. Everyone still like it.

And i believe pro got the good standard too! cheeers =)

2224 also have their own problem. What I read from other forum is the priming become harden, thus no longer function and worst case start leak from there. Nothing perfect

I'm using an Ecco 2232 and i really like the filter cos although it's shaped like the Classic, it is like an improved version of the Classic in that it has a quick release valve which can swivel around at the head and it also has a primer. But like what robert says, you need to be careful when you're opening or closing the filter for maintenance cos the handle can break easily if not done properly. IMO most times the handle is spoilt due to improper handling than a design flaw. I've spoilt it before and have learnt the "right way" to do it. Hmmm..... Sometimes i wonder why Eheim doesn't make the 202x series with a swivel valve like what you see on the atman filters??

Btw i feel (and i could be wrong) that the Classic's filtering is much better than the Ecco because the water goes in through the bottom part of the filter and out through the top making it better able to trap detrius. Whereas in the Ecco, water goes in from the top part of the filter (filter head) and passes through/around the sides between the white media casing and the filter and than flow through the medias within the white casing and back to the top of the filter.
