Hey guys, I'm looking at getting my first eheim canister. My tank size is 216 liters and I don't know which model to get. I read about classic models being a bit tougher to setup.

What would your tank be used for? Planted? Or some high bioload fishes?

it's my first planted tank and i'm looking to try out eheim but i don't wanna dampen my spirits with something too difficult to setup. was thinking of eheim pro series, somewhere around 700 lph and above, it's alright right, guys?

yeah sure, in time to come i'll add more tetras, i think i'm looking at false neon tetras at the moment.

    Re: Filter for 2ft cube.

according to your total water amount of 216, you will need 10x cycle which is around 2000 lph.

after you add all the medias in, you should be left with 1800lph.

700lph is too low. after adding media, you will be left with 500-550lph.

    Re: Filter for 2ft cube.

mine's custom. if you're keen on the tank maker, do PM me.
yea, but to buy 50, and another 33, it's like so odd, but i might just get them in stages so the bio load won't go crazy.

for 200 odd litres, which filter do i need? i need help.
i was considering, 2217 and 2226, but bro eviltrain is saying 10x filtration, which i can only look at 2260.
if i do get 2260, will the output current be too strong?

I don't mind this look actually, as long as the plants are green and relaxing to look at.

Strong current better then weak one as the filter works day by day. Gunk gets clog up and reduced the flow rate eventually.

i just got a 2213, assuming the 2217 being just a bigger version, it isnt that hard to set up i guess. quite straight forward. the double tap helps alot thou. without it ( like me ) will have problems with wet floors when priming it. basically just 2 pipes connect to the inlet and outlet only. dun need to think till so complicated.

    Low tech tank FTW!

    true that.

i've actually settled with a dolphin c1000 canister, and with 2 tray filled with ceramic rings and the last one with the filter wool, the flow is lesser. yes, so strong current is actually better in the long run.
