Jebao 503 at seaview you can get for about 1 blue note and 2 red notes.
750L/Hr rated flow. I've had it for 6 months. Still doing well..
Hi bros and Sis,
I am thinking to start another 2 feet fire red/yellow tank soon, therefore i'm in the middle of selecting a suitable canister filter.
can someone recommend me a decent but not too expensive filter?, eihem seems too expensive for me as i am going for low tech & low budget planted tank.
I read up Atman seems to be a good buy? any maintenance issue/broken parts/ hard to source for parts issue?

i just got myself a dophin c1000 canister and so far so good.
the priming system is easier than expected and current is good for my 2ft cube.
You could check out the forum for second hand eheim. eheim are quite lasting and you can get second hand for like half the price of the a new one.
still learning the hard way!!
Thanks for the suggestion,
not too sure about second hand filters as there maybe leak/flowrate/misc item to change/misc missing items issues...i just encounter similar issue with my last secondhand item..sigh
if possible kindly include price for the items...

I used the Atman CF 800 for 5 years without any issues![]()
Or you can consider the Eden 501 if the bioload will be low. I used one on a 2 ft tank with very few apistos and zero problems.

Bro, how much is the atman? it is noisy? where can i buy their spare parts?i heard only NA have their spare parts?
Bro, My current 2 feet bow front tank already have 1 OverHead Filter + Eden as the flow rate is low and there is some dead spots without proper circulation.
i don't want to repeat the same mistake as my bow front tank. Therefore for my new tank,i will only want 1 filter for 1 tank... budget is less than 100 if possible, my friend spot eihem 2213 with media selling at SGD 113, maybe will go for that...

I got my atman for about $70 I think? Ran for 5 years without needing any spare parts so I don't know where to get them. Easy to prime too, with that push button on the top.

Felix did say spare parts were available at Atman, and I've read that Eheim parts are compatible too.
Go down to NA and if Atman doesn't come with spare parts, get an Eheim![]()
wongce,
It's easy to rectify the dead spots. Place an air stone or a powerhead on the other end. I use a small powerhead in my 4ft tank to eliminate any dead spots too. Hang on filters do not output throughout the tank so to me they are not useful if you want proper water circulation.
The Eden 501 loses flow rate over time and this is common with this small filter. There are 3 new Eden filters with bigger capacity and higher flowrate, but I have not seen those locally yet. The website at www.edensrl.com will have details on the other 3 filters.
Between Atman and Eheim, I would choose Eheim if cost is not a factor. For peace of mind, better to fork out more at the start, than to end up with a canister that you cannot fix easily with spare parts. At least with Eheim, you can find the spare parts easily. The 2213 or a 2024 might fit your purposes better.

Hi stormhawk,I know about the aeration/power head/wave maker trick,..but I don't like to expose too much equipment in my tank..haha that's why I buy Eden as its small and not intrusive..but the water change is quite low though..
I am still surveying the prices, haha may buy eihem eventually as it seems to be most reliable and spare parts are easily available..btw let me know if there is any promotion for eihem in any Lfs..

You can probably try Colorful Aquarium at West Coast. They're having a closing down sale so might as well support them and get an Eheim cheap if there's still any left.
