    Hi guys,

I got a new Eheim Classic 2215 recently. My first Eheim actually.

    It sounds like this.

Turn up your volume to hear it. This video is not mine, but the sound is almost the same. It's louder than my old Atman CF800! I can hear it when my ear is 20cm away.

Is this normal for new Eheims? I opened up the impeller assembly but as far as I could tell it was perfect.

Also, eheims don't seem to like heavy CO2 misting huh? Mine keeps spitting out bubbles halfway through the day and I keep having to shake the cannister.

Didn't have that problem with my Atman. Should I send this Eheim for servicing?

haha like not very loud leh bro. How long is the cannister since day 1 you bought? if its more then 1 week maybe something wrong somewhere.

You tried dont let your co2 leech into the inlet pipe and see if the noice persist ? Better if used a inline diffuser.

Might want to hear other bro who had this model have this problem, hopefully someone can help on this problem.

Its definitely louder than my old Atman, and Eheim is supposed to be dead silent!

I will download the app tonight when I get back.

Yea I am using an inline diffuser, and the filter has been running for a week and it has always had this sound. Its only on the output side so I doubt it will affect. Anyway what I will do is to turn the canister upside down to see if that solves the problem of trapped air. Otherwise I will turn off the CO2.

If that sound still persists I will have no choice but to bring it to qian hu for servicing.

    Re: Noisy Eheim 2215

    On my output of course.

Anyway, the problem seems to be solved. I took out the impeller and replaced it back again, and tilted the cannister 180 degrees to the side to clear all air. The filter is now much quieter. Perhaps the impeller was a bit off from the start? Will update again at 1am when all is quiet and I can hear the filter properly.

Yeap, filter is much quieter than the past week. Peace at last!

For reference, I measured 50dB of noise with the app mentioned above. The phone was placed right next to the canister.

sound like air lock. Its normal, normally I shake the filter until no more air coming out from the outlet

Mine also around 50dB but I can't compare with yours because different phone may have different design. I can only compare it to my other filter

But can an air lock last a few days? That bad? I shook up the filter pretty well in the first few days but the filter was just noisy. Only after I did as described earlier did the sound reduce considerably.

i notice air bubbles tend to get trap in the ceramic rings, during the airlock what was the measurement?

I didn't manage to record down the sound before the problem was solved. I do in fact have ceramic rings with Biohome inside though.

My cf 800 had air lock over 1 week before. But was on level ground with tank every now and then need to shake out the air.

    Re: Noisy Eheim 2215

Well I didn't have that problem with the Atman.

The Eheim is spitting out bubbles at the later part of the day when the CO2 mist is all over the tank. I will leave the cannister alone untouched for a week and see if the noise comes back.

I believe the filter inlet need to be setup so as not to pull in water with air bubbles. You could either set the inlet at the other end of the tank or as close to the substrate as possible so as not to pull in the misted water.
