I keep a pair of apisto viejita and caca triple red in a 1 feet tank and they don't have any fight or aggression shown until 2 days ago, when the caca pair are showing sign of spawning and they are guarding the cave. Still not much aggression shown. I keep my lone agasizzi in a comm tank with platy, guppy, cory and bushfish, also no fight seen. I think apisto is quite ok with other fish like tetra unless they are spawning.

i see, thanks for the advise.
Now i can buy some cardinal tetra to put with my newly bought apisto.
will show my newbie setup once they are more settled.

In a 2ft tank, you can mix 2 species of apisto together only if there is a lot of hiding place. If you intend to breed them the brooding females may end up killing each other if they happen to bump into one another while foraging.
Any mix of small tetras like pencilfish will stay together with the apistos with little problem. The only issue is that the tetras may eat any stragglers among the fry if your pairs breed.

thanks for your wonderful advice stormhawk.
if i put more caves for them and plants. will it be the best?
so far my tank is quite empty only with black quartz gravel as base and 1 cave with 2 big driftwood.

Yes that would be a good start, but try not to keep similar looking apisto together as some will hybridize with each other freely.
In an open tank concept where you can see the fish easily, keeping more than 2 pairs of the same or different species in a 2 ft tank is not advisable. When they do breed, the females can be vicious and may beat up the males or other fish badly.
