Name : Neocaridina Heteropoda var Red
    Sex : Female
    Size : 2.5cm

    Took on 5th dec night
    P1070690.jpg

    On 8th dec
Shrimp appear to be pale orange and translucent , significantly losing red pigment in an overall scale

Took on 9th dec morning, morph within 8 hours during sleep.

Woke up and its caught my eye as a black orange & purple shrimp among her 2 months FR babies.
Took a few photos before work in natural sunlight ( my light will only be on timer at 4pm , going to take more at night )

In macro photography, looks different than naked eye. Outer shell red pigment is losing fast, even the legs are gone. Inner shell appear to have intense blue pigment. Only obvious remaining 'red' pigment is at the head and tail (from top view) Shell health still pearlie and shiny. No Molting of this shrimp for past days.

will female change color during mating? There is no adult male but the juvenile shrimps may have become sexual by 2 months.

Lastly will like to name this color, Alpha Centauri .. like a mystery cluster of colors blue, red, yellow
earlier thinking of naming her Cosmic..

additional info - a cull appear to be transparent with light blue and faint red .. still waiting for it to grow up

For it to become a line, have to breed true, not morph halfway in life

Some fire reds have abit of blue tint underneath, giving them a dark red/purplish hue...your case may be extensive decoloration exposing those blue tint due to stress. I fear for the worst for this shrimp actually, no offense

Bro Nav, you mean this FR is under stress and its going die soon but not a new mutation? Looks nice though

ya i know its weird for adult to morph into another color overnight, just want to journal it down
As I only saw it this morning, will pay extra attention

Its hard to determine if this shrimp only is under stress as there's about 30 FR inside which behave as usual, and the companion females batch 1 still is dark red
I purposely disturb this shrimp this morning, and it display vigor to react and feeding normally

At first glance, it looks like purple shrimp.
maybe it will morph back to red again?

I concur bro. Yamato/Amano shrimps are known to morph into a reddish brown color when close to the end of their natural lifespan if I recalled. Can't remember where I read this though

She is beautiful although she may have 168 hrs left ticking on her arm

taken at night when my light is on
Blue continues to engulf her and the legs are starting to turn blue
Yesterday night feeding, she stand out as a deep blue purplish color

only less than 24 hr when blue is the new red

You may have gotten a Malayan shrimp bro. A bro showed me some malayan that were very bright orange red and I thought they were fire reds.
A Malayan shrimp would be able to change color like this

I don't think is a Malayan shrimp. Malayan shrimp is also called hard shell shrimp where there is a obvious thick band on it's back which I did not see in his picture. The changing of colour for marimo's sakura shrimp is kinda wierd.

Re: New mutate color of Fire Red Adult to ... Alpha Centauri !

there are just FRs in tank , source is from reputable shrimp store .
Is unlikely a malayan as I look at them everyday, it look exactly like other FR
when i bought them, i choose the female that are very red, even the legs are red, thanks to the good upkeep from the store

still observing this shrimp and taking photos and video once it comes to the foreground..

by the way my avatar is her , before she changed to blue.

Some months ago, I had a bunch of Sakura that died on me, and 2 showed this blue coloration just before kicking the bucket.
