    Re: new setup for apisto

I have the following questions for you:

    1) How old is this setup?
    2) Did you use some sort of soil substrate? If yes specify which type
    3) Did you pour the water directly on the substrate without doing it slowly and over time?
    4) Did you cycle the tank beforehand?
    5) Take a sample of the water and do a visual check on it. Does it look green?

Answer these questions and it'll be easier to give you a solution to the problem. I suspect it's a problem of green algae, or just dirt particles from the substrate suspended in the water.

    Re: new setup for apisto

my setup is just few days old. As told by the LFS that i can use my existing tank water from an old tank.
i am using black quartz gravel if i am not wrong about it.
i did wash the gravel and pour water directly on the gravel which i forget to put a plastic bag on the gravel to prevent.
If you able to see, my background is without oyama paper and my wall is painted lime green.

hope i had answered all my question.

It is dangerous to keep Apistogrammas in newly cycled tank. Ammonia spiked can kill them.
Your Apistogramma looks like a Apistogramma Borelli.
Should add the fish in only after the water clears up as Bacteria start build up..

In this case it eliminates any issue of "dirt" from the gravel, but I believe it's a bacterial bloom. Get a UV filter if you can and run the water through the filter.

Re-using old tank water for a new tank can seem like a short cut, but it does not eliminate the problem of an un-cycled filter. If all goes well the water will clear within the next 2 weeks or so.

i see. hope it is baterial bloom instead of the dirt. so far my Borelli seem ok. just that my female is not so active than the male.
the male will swim around to explore but the female like to stay stand on the gravel.
