    Hi I have excess ceramic rings thinking not to waste it can I just put the ceremic ring on top of my tanks substrate will this still have those natural bb? Thanks alot

    yes you can, soil inhibits BB , so why not the ceramic rings.
    I took out some from the filter and throw into the feeding bowl, the shrimp start to graze the rings squeeky clean

    You can lay the rings on top of your substrate if you wish. Over time they will grow algae on them, which will be beneficial for your shrimps, along with being a base for the BB to thrive in.
