    Hey guys,

I've recently acquired a sick RES, and i was hoping if anyone can share any advice to how i may help this poor little creature. Been to a vet 4 days ago, administered to a multivitamin injection and some vitamin supplements which i have been force feeding him as recommended by the vet.

Up to date, he recently pooped ( which i hope is a good sign as he haven't eaten a single thing, i got him just 5 days ago. )
I actually requested a antibiotic jab, but the vet said it might not do the RES good.
Here are some pictures of the RES that i've just snapped up.

Here, you can see there's a small yellow growth/debri on the eye.

    Picture002-3.jpg

Red streaks along the plastron. And a red cicle around the neck area.

    Do advise!

Hi bro, do you have a source of UVB and heating?
Heating will increase the metabolism of the turtle and will aid it in recovering while UVB is for its calcium intake.
Is it eating pellets at the moment, e.g. reptomin, which is more nutritious than frozen/live food.

    Hey bro Johannes,

Yeah i do, i actually sunbask it in the mornings till noon, and leave a heating lamp on at night. Food wise it's not really eating at the moment because of it's swollen eyes, only way to get food in it's system is to force feed it.

HI thread starter, may I know if u acquired this res as hypo pastel res? Did the previous owner conceal it's health conditions?

A long time ago I had a RES that had swollen eyes.

Its actually vitamin deficiency if I'm not wrong.

can't remember which vitamin it was thats lacking, but the vet gave it a few jabs. After a week it was well.

    Sorry for your loss.

btw its very unethical for the seller to sell you a sick animal. And I believe you paid a premium for it?

Very very unethical. No wonder he was selling at a loss. And that hypo pastel isn't that Hypo actually. I almost bought it. Is it okay revealing the seller here so we can confirm his identity?

It was a good but painful lesson learnt bro, anyway, on the bright side, i've learnt alot more about the RES species that i wouldn't have come about not for this incident.

Haha, in the end i'm the " lucky " one that got it. Don't think we should do that bro, since it's not dealt here in AQ, but i've sent you a pm.
