Where to buy MOSS BALLS and How much? :)

Hi guys, just wanna know if where to buy moss balls or algae balls there in singapore?.. and just wanna know how much?

Depending on what kind of moss ball you are looking for - they range from around $ 2 to $4 per piece. There are the mini ones and the large ones. For the moss ball i believe you can easilyget them at almost LFS (i have seen them everywhere) else, you could let us know which location will be nearer to you so we can suggest a nearest LFS.

Those in the LFS are Cladophora balls, which is basically some species of hair algae and not made from moss. To make moss balls you have to tie down the moss with netting and let it grow over a scaffolding, usually a plastic bio ball.

If you get the Marimo Ball you must be prepared for any outbreaks of hair algae in the tank.

IMHO Marimo does not cause algae outbreaks, i have one in my tank, they are slooooooow growers,i hope they groooow faster though...

They are commonly mistaken to be moss but they are actually algae but i don't think its a pest though. Btw, they look real great if used as a lawn or stones...very natural...

In the wild, they form those common ball shapes, but without replicating the environmental conditions that cause this roundish growth, in our tanks it can be a pest.

Haha - sorry, cause been reading up and marimo is also known as moss ball hence i answered it that way... in any case, i am not very sure of the outbreak, as i have the minature version of the moss ball but there isent any hair algae out break...
but it is true thatwe will have problem keeping them in the roundish shape as the natural enviroment there is the currents to keep rolling them around...

With a powerhead that comes with the wave action, this environment can be replicated. It's the sprouting free-floating filament type that annoys me, not so much the ball form. I had clumps of them.

hi guys, in other forum said to buy marimo at seaview / clementi..... wondering if there are any other nearer fish store from orchard or bugis? or i just visit clementi? I prefer the fish store near with mrt station...

and please recommend me with more fish store that sell marimo >
