If you having big tank like 4 ft and above. when doing maintence or planting. Dont try to lean against the glass or apply any unnecessary force onto it and somemore 2nd hand. Hard to predict whether the silicon will give way or not.

when it gives way... in my words.. "you will shit bricks on the spot"
12mm with decent silicon will last you very long...

Re: Getting a 4ft tank, with tight budget

    haha... scary thought right?
i broke 1 of my 3 feet before...but new tanks can last a long time before the silicon eventually gives way...

btw, which person sane enough will lean on the tank walls during planting?

Err advise to you. Getting something u will not regret buying. If u getting a 4ft but because of $$$ then buy a cheaper tank but less steady then can blame who if the tank break. I also no $$$ but I rather save $$$ before buying then buying then waste $$$.
Like how I regret buying a 2ft Gex 50% glass tank which cost like $30. $90 would get me a so much nicer glass tank. Better sight. If no money then wait 2-3months later than buy lor. Patience is a virtue. But from most of the comments. Braceless seem fine le. Depend on yourself ba. Either would be fine.
