Congratulations Lucas. At first I thought your tank had a soil bottom then I realised it is a bare bottom tank.

My first time buying N. anomala from C328, I ended up with 2 females.

Thanks I wanted to put lapis sand at first, but i find it tends to buffer the ph at about 7. Since i wanted to make the water acidic, i just spammed ktp leaves with bare bottom tank.

When i bought them, i was also afraid i got two females or two males, as i have heard so many stories about sneaker males/females, and furthermore this is my first time buying dwarf SA cichlids. Decided to give it a go, guess i was lucky

Soon you'll have a battle royale on your hands as the youngsters grow up. The males will start fighting over territory then you have to get rid of them ASAP.

Nice to see the kids doing great. Judging by the size, if you've been feeding them with worms then in a month's time they ought to be sexable by then.

Haha, they have been very good children so far , except for trying to steal the mother's food when i feed her They still move around together as a group without squabbling.

By the way, is the growth considered fast? I started feeding them worms only about a week ago, before that they were eating BBS. Now, i am feeding them worms and frozen daphnia.

Once on a high protein diet like worms, they will grow insanely fast. Mix in some Moina and chopped FBW, it will give them some variety, along with baby Artemia or adult Artemia if they can ingest them without difficulty. Cichlid fry are not fussy feeders. You can even raise them on flake food if they'll take it.

I remember when I was a kid, my uncle had his Convict Cichlid pair that spawned, and he raised them solely on crushed flake. The LFS couldn't take the whole lot because he had a few hundred of them in the same tank with the parents.

    Hi stormhawk,

unfortunately i am unable to get moina anywhere near my house. There used to be an LFS at redhill market who would bring in moina on alternate days, unfortunately it has closed.

Anyway, now i am feeding them twice a day, and i feed them hikari bio gold or hikari micro pellets or tubifex worms (after 3 days quarantine) or frozen daphnia, hopefully this will give them more variety in their diet.

That's good enough. Even better since you're giving them dry food. Have you tried crushed Hikari Carnivore Pellets? The extra protein content might be useful for their growth. It's a pity the small shop at the market closed down. For me, the nearest LFS that has Moina is Hong Yang.

Actually Hikari Discus Bio Gold has min. 50% protein, whereas Carnivore Pellets has min. 47% protein, so thats why i chose Bio Gold.

Now that the small shop has closed down, i have to go all the way to clementi to get BBS. I would rather get moina, as it is the frys' natural food, but all the places that sell it are too far

    Re: My Nannacara Anomala fry!

Every Thursday, GC and C328 has a supply of Moina, so it's your nearest option for Moina, but I think after GC uncle's accident, best is for you to self-hatch the BBS, so you don't have to travel to C328 just for it. Besides, many times I find the bag of BBS nearly half dead, or fully dead.

hmm maybe can try polyart if c328 BBS looks dead as polyart people hatch their own bbs to sell..
Too much of a fish SIAO to quit fish keeping/fishing..

The amount of empty eggshells in those packets from Polyart is quite obvious too. I saw their hatchery, looks like a slurpee machine at 7-11. So much BBS eggs.

You can try decap bbs too. Just have to soak a while before feeding. I think quite a few LFSes are selling the ANS brand.
