Thanks for the info Silane. Sounds similar to how freshwater species are evolved to resist osmotic pressures (they actively pass out water) while retaining electrolytes and marine species actively retains water and pass out concentrated "urine" full of electrolytes (mainly salts).
In lower TDS waters, the shrimps simply does what they already do well, pass out even more water but in high TDS waters, the shrimps start having to try and pass out excess electrolytes and salts, which they're not equipped very well for.
Only exception would probably be Yamato shrimps, since they are brackish
