    Algae Still...

I've recently did some major pruning and increase my co2 to 30ppm. My lighting is 11 hrs. 4 x 40 watts fl.

The BBA has reduced, but still got some growing on some of the leaves. But the main thing now is there are a lot of those green coloured fur/hair looking like stuff on the driftwood. And these stuff are also growing on the leaves of some of the plants too. And growing increasing a lot too!!!

After the pruning the last time, I wanted to dose some fertilisers but don't know how to do it correctly and was afraid to dose the fertilisers (N,K, etc) cause I scared might get the algae growing like mad house if I dont' do it correctly.

Any advice on what I should do from now?

Please give us more info on your tank. such as tank size and the water parameters such as PH, KH, N03, P04 and etc. Perhaps then someone will be able to advice you.

    NO3 could be between 5 - 10ppm
    PO4 could be between 0.5-1ppm
KH would be nice to increase to 4 to reduce chances of PH swing between CO on and off periods. [:]

My tank has experienced a suddenly explosion of those green algae that grow on my moss, driftwood and tanks' glass. So I added 50 Yamatos in and within a couple of hours my driftwood is as clean as the first day I place it in the tank.

i got shrimps and ottos but they are not interested in the algae. funny thing is the green algae is actually bubbling. it looks like the algae you see on the driftwood in NA's main tank in the shop.

Lots of other algae bubble/pearl too.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Pump in more CO2 and you will see other algae bubble themselves dead.

NO3 at zero is not good. The recommended values as indicated above by sleepy_lancs.

Not true. More KH does not reduce the chance of pH swing. As long as you have at least 1dKH, its sufficient to reduce the range of pH swing. At higher levels, the range is still the same. The difference is that the starting and ending pH values of the range are higher at higher values of KH.
