Just keep looking at the bags until you see some males. There's always a mix of sexes, last time I checked.

You can go to those LFS that you can view and choose your shrimps. Examples like GreenChapter, JZX at AMK (display tank at entrance), etc.
tks guys, think ill go to one of those 'pick n choose' places.
but my concern is that i will not be able to tell the difference between a male sakura and a male cherry since they are all light colored anyway.
or does it not matter whether i get a male sakura or cherry ?
Can consider crs haven if you just want to selectively choose a few or you can head straight to lfs and get another bag of mixtures.
nice males are hard to come by. or when u buy berried females or with shrimplets, the shrimplets sure have males when it grow up
Hi all, i also bought a bag of sakura at c328, i guess they are all females, after researching online how to differentiate them.
I hardly see any male shrimp over there.
Buy those Sakura that are berried (with eggs) or even best if there are shrimplets inside the bag. Wait for the shrimp to hatch from the eggs or shrimplets to grow up. Chances are high that the new patches there are mixed of male and female shrimps. Only problem is that you have to wait for the male shrimplets to grow till adult to mate with the female Sakura shrimps that are bought.
Yeap... crs haven is good as u get to choose and quality is there.
Never enough tanks, never enough money....
Frankly if u have all the time convience to drop in. Well keep dropping in like mod stormhawk say I too have seen mix sexes bag in 328,618,seaview. Why pay premium price for Sakura at that shop?? I believe if you most in market wanted there will be respond too.
I think I have more males than females in my tank. Maybe you want to exchange?
I don't know how you can get all females in one bag of Sakura shrimp unless the supplier is doing this on purpose to control their breeding by hobbyists. This has always been the case with some fish, especially nice ones like Dario dario.
Each time I pick a bag of Sakura shrimp from C328, just to look, there's always at least a few bags with several males in them. May not be the best quality males but they are labeled as Sakura so yeah. Besides, in those bags sometimes they are stressed and do not show their full potential.
Sakura Shrimp are a form of Cherry Shrimp anyway. You might want to see this thread:

Most of the Sakuras in the packets at c328 look the same; all of the same size and the same deep red. I assumed that they are all females cos I read that males are generally less vibrant and smaller in size.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong? most of the bags at c328 have Sakuras that all look the same
I don't think they bother to control their breeding by hobbyists as most people prefer Fire Red.
Most newbie will pick the female as they are more attractive than the male.
People who just want to have some shrimps to display in their tank with small fish will also choose that as well.
So, a bag with all female is a real goody bag.
Males are normally culls and/or too many in most breeder's tanks.
If you really cannot find, I have a few to give but give me some time to cull.
