Hi guys,
I'm planning to get a 40x25x28 opticube tank and wondering any brand/model of canister to get for a tank in this size. Need it to be quiet as the tank will be in my room. Was using a HOF previously and want to have a better filter system.![]()

For that size, a 2211/2213/2222/2224 Eheim canister will probably suit your purposes. Nice dog in your avatar, looks like that Boo from Youtube. The FX5 is a good filter but probably too big for your purposes. Unless you intend to run a chiller, the smaller canisters will do fine if you keep the bioload within manageable limits.

Hi bro.. Haha thanks, got the dog pic from my gf. Hmm yea I was looking into eheim 2211&2213 last night too... Probably getting one of the model. Wondering the price difference alot? Just wondering how come some canister need to be same lvl as tank even though they have pump and eheim canister don't need to? Sorry if it's a noob question, kinda new with canisters ^^
Different canisters have different flowrate. Some have much weaker pumps, so to compensate for that, they have to be placed at the same level with the tank. These are usually smaller canisters like the Eden 501 or the Shiruba filter, model number I forgot.
Eheim canisters are rated higher on flow rate and are meant to be placed below the tank in most cases. You can consider the smaller Fluval models, Jebao or Boyu if you're on a tight budget, or even Atman canister filters. Though for peace of mind, the majority will agree that Eheim, although expensive, is a good brand. Ease of finding spare parts when required, makes them worth the cost.

Before you do that, research first on the available filters and their recommended flowrates. The higher the flowrate of the canister is better where the use of a chiller is required, because canisters will clog up over time without a prefilter on the intake section.

The size of the tank you stated is in cm or inches?

Hi, i got fish tank of same size, use to has a no brand over hang w/ small flow rate, with planted, it clog up fast....change to 2213 for 2 weekd now... Flow rate is good!
The only down side is the included intake pipe and outflow need to saw off to fit the tank....
Hi guys, yea 2213 seems gd... Just got 1 frm seaview last weekend. Gonna start cycling the tank this week =)
Great buy, bro! Now I know why people swear by Eheim. Yesterday I just had my 1st maintenance with 2213 to clean up debris inside after major replanting. It was so easy, especially with the double taps. Cleaning all the lily pipe & fill the hose back with water, voila! instant priming!
Sulawesi isnt easy to start out with, all the best!
