    hi hi to all ....... i am a newbie too apisto..... got a pair of apisto from C328 for about 4weeks now, have notice that the male is always chasing the female to the corner of my 2x1x1ft tank have a few plants and some small flower pot for hiding space , still the male will hunt the poor female down........i have read that somebody has the same problem in this froum but i cant find the thread or where it was can some body please help me or please any guru out can help me .....thanks in advance

    Apisto males can be quite aggressive to females which are not ready to spawn. You have to break the line of sight between them. That is to create lots of spots in the tank where one fish cannot see the other. This provides some refuge when the females turns on the male after spawning too.

    Java ferns are inexpensive and work perfectly. Otherwise a few large pieces of driftwood would also do.

    Any pictures of your female? might be a sneaker male and the alpha male does not like a guy wearing a skirt

    Even if the fish is a true female, more likely than not the male would also be aggressive.

    These are not Apistogrammas which are from South America. These are in fact West African dwarf cichlids. Your pair looks like Pelvicachromis taeniatus "nigerian red".

    Still the best way to reduce aggression is to break the line of sight. You can add more of those java ferns and pots.
