Canister Filter - Leak alarm/detector?

Does anyone know if you can get a leak alarm/detector for a canister filter?

There's no such product in the market, however, you can probably DIY something with a sensor that detects the presence of a leak at the canister head.

there's this detector/alarm that u put on the floor near the canister, it has 2 contact points on the bottom. if its leaking it will close the circuit and sound an alarm. its the closest thing i know ?

Here's something easy to set up.

1. Place canister filter in a pail. A taller pail is better.
2. You can easily get water detection sensors, not very expensively from the electronic shops in Sim Lim Tower (diagonally opposite Sim Lim Square). It'll be good to Google for an idea of what you're looking for. Talking to the shop keepers will help to. Suggest you talk to a few of them.
3. Rig the sensor to trigger a buzzer of sorts (if it does not come with one) when it senses water at say the 1 inch bottom of the pail.

I was thinking of using a level switch for the application, i.e. if the water in the tank drops below a certain level, then the level switch will engage and turn of the canister filter's pump....dunno how much something like this might cost....

I'll bet there are Arduino water detector projects online, if you're good with programming and DIY electronics

Err. How about just get boyu water level detection kit? It has a probe to be place in the tank to check for water level. If the water level drop to certain level, it will sound off.

Ie to say, if the canister leak, the water level of the tank will drop too.
