I am presently using a Teco Tr 20, 1/3 HP for my 3ft tank.

The recommended flow rate for the TR-20 is as : 180-780gph (taken from website)

I was thinking whether to buy an external pump specially for the TR-20 or use my present Eheim external filter as a pump, my eheim filter model is 2032 Eco pro which is smaller although I am also running another external filter, eheim pro 3e, 2078, i think it's has too strong flow for the pro 3e.

Can my Eco pro 2032 able to run the teco TR-20

The Eco 2032 spec is as follow:

Pump output 500 l/hr for size of tank up to 60 -130 ltr.

Any advise is fully appreciated from our brothers.

I do not want to spend extra money to buy another external pump. hoping my eheim 2032 will do.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, you can use your pro3e to run the teco, 2032 is too weak for tr20. I'm currently using a 2026 for my tr15 and I find it weak already. Took around 20mins to cool my 110L tank.

Re: Advise needed for external pump / External filter as pump for chiller

    3x2x2feet tank is 324 litres

teco tr20 recommanded flow rate is 643.5 LPH to 2952 LPH

first thing to look out for is how much water turn over rate you are looking for.

lets say 5 turn over per hour, your pump need to be size at 324*5 =1620 LPH

ie to say, your canister needs to be rated at around 1800LPH (before medias added).

for 1800 LPH, i will recommand you to have a long rain bar with extra holes and enlarged holes to "slows" down the flow.

now back to chiller, 1800LPH will falls in between 643.5 LPH to 2952 LPH which is quite ideal for your chiller flow rate.
