it's best to have the tank fully cycled before adding livestock.
fully cycled would means water parameter is stable within the desired range, not by number of days.
number of days is just a guide.

in order for other to give opinion, it would be best to provide more information.
such as: tank size, filter type, soil type, water change, etc.

good luck and welcome to the club, deone

Ok i guess i was pretty reckless with adding the livestock.
Anyways, how much does a water test kit cost and what should i do now that i have livestock in it?

My tank is about 60cm long.

    Re: Crystal clear water?

If you have a good filter canister and you meet the water parameter required, it should be okay as long as your shrimp is not high grade CRS.

The water in your tank will become clean eventually, how fast it will clear up, will depend on the type of soil you used.

At the very least, you need to test for ammonia, nitrite and nirates. Each kit costs between low to high $10s.

To accelerate tank cycling, you may want to consider quick-fix like Seachem Stability.

I think the only time i get clear water is when i do my WC during the first 2 weeks. Nowadays i always see particles in my tank.

What type of filter are you using and is the filter media you have in your filter now?

    Re: Crystal clear water?

I'm currently using a cheap *** hailea filter. I think i would probably invest in a canister filter soon. I guess i need to do my tank all over again. The fishes and shrimps are fine, only 2 shrimps died so far.

Is it best if i transfer my fishes with the current water now to another tank, re-setup my current tank and re-cycle my current tank?

Your Hailea filter is a Overhead Filter? How big is your tank? What media do you have in the filter? The filter may not be sufficient to filter away debris that resulted in your tank water not clear.

I have the same particle in tthe tank issue in the past I was running an Ehiem Pro 2028 with BioHome Plus , Ehiem Substrate Pro and CR but the water was unable to obtain clear water. The problem was solved when I add in a Jaleco pre filter in front of the Ehiem canister. The content in the Ehiem Canister remain and the pre-filter was filled with wool. So now the Pre filter acts as a mechanical filter and the Ehiem acts as a bio filter. The water is very clear now.

Well, once i added the pre-filter, somehow, i encounter the flow of the water to my canister was not smooth. I even can hear air bubbles gap. Wondering is it my media of my pre-filter dirty or some other reason. Maybe I will have to clean up my pre-filter again this weekend.

Another killing tank... There is a need to cycle the tank. If you do not cycle it properly, you may end up killing most of the livestock in the tank.

The reason for cloudy water could be due to bacterial boom. Newly setup tanks, typically soil based, may face this cloudy effect and will take between days to weeks to clear. These bacterials are known as benefitual bacterials (BB). BB is needed in the tank to help breakdown bioload. Go do some homework before you buy and put in anymore lives.
