Firstly I would like to ask is ocean free American sand regarded as lapis sand?

Secondly , what plants can I plant purely on lapis sand? I would want the plants to root and spread.
I believe crypt wenditii is one of them as I saw bioplast planting them. Are there any others that grows well on lapis sand? How about marsilea harisuta?

yes it is the same. Qian hu repackage it and call it ocean free. If you want the real deal in original "Monterey Bay" lapis lazuli sand, you can go to aquatechnic at kallang palace. It comes in 25kg paper bag

Hahaha.. Click on my signature. Probably I am the only person in AQ is still adopting lapis sand. But it works! I am going through my 4th set of MH bulb change in a month or two. my 5 feet tank is going to celebrate 6th year anniversary!

PS: I am the right person for this topic! = )

I was at aquatechnic a coupl of weeks back. I saw a few pallets of the sand from RMC Pacific Materials - Lapis Lustre Sand - 8 mesh 50 lbs bag. Maybe they don't wanna entertain phone calls. But drop by and ask for alice.

I use lapis because all those synthetic sand will eventually become mud after 2 years. Plus the lapis sand afford better aeration to the substate level without gassing (hydrogen sulfide) issues. Here's a pic of my 1 month old tank which i recently set-up.
