Been very busy lately traveling for work, came back recently and began pampering my babies. And look at what they have done now?

The third one is my male unimaculata that Johannes brought back from Jakarta (from Hermanus) last year.

Haha. Congratulations! Very nice pugnax and unimac. Looks like you'll need more tanks!

    Re: More brooding males

Bernard, those are betta enisae. He's brooded before but I guess the babies all ended up as fish food as they are in a community tank with another pair of enisae and four young unimacs.

My betta pugnax had a tankful of babies, but thank goodness the female ate them all.

Just hoping the unimac will hold the eggs. This is his first brood with me.

Ohhh! True that. A pugnax revolution would surely be the last thing you would want. LOL
    DO update on the unimacs!

On my side, I've separated the channoides pair to ensure that no brooding occurs. They are like rabbits. I tried to comm the pair again and the female immediately started going into her mating colouration - Removed her immediately.
    Cheers,

    Re: More brooding males

Hahaha, they do breed like rabbits when the conditions are right. Am getting ready to release the last few batches of babies soon... am letting them grow out naturally. Quite big now. May end up keeping a few but am not sure.

The Unimac spit. But it is his first time...so hopefully with experience he will be better.

Oh that's a shame. At least you know that you have a Compatible pair now! Did you remove the female during brooding?

I removed her but I think that distressed him. I will leave her with him next time for a while at least. We'll see. Only time will tell.
