    Guys,
Need a little help here. Bought two mats of some kind of green carpet like plant from C328 and not sure what to do with it. The individual plants are too small to pull out but the whole thing floats. Should I just weigh the whole mat to the bottom of the tank or is there some other trick to this ? Thanks in advance.

the plants should be HC, pull the wool make it thinner before you gently pull the HC out.
then after you plant them with pincer... this plant you can use search in fourm for more info.

I plant them after pulling out 3/4 the sponge..... Dunno whether that works. Time will tell.... I've just started. Any bros can comment?

By the way, what about those tied with wire mesh. I just let the whole thing sink down. After 1 week I pull up still no roots protruding from the wire mesh.... Maybe I'm doing it all wrong for hc

So you still have the 1/3 of the wool there? Take them out of the wool.

Someone told me very hard to take it out from the thick wool.
My answer: why don't you take most of the wool from the reverse side before pulling them out for planting.

I hope this helps. Else I can dig photos.

    Thanks guys,
I actually found a video that shows what to do. You pull out as much as you can, then cut the mat into 1 inch cubes and then plant them. Now I feel stupid as I just anchored the whole thing to the tank bed using weights No wonder it wasnt working.

Actually it's up to the hobbyist to decide the how to do extract them.
Feel free to contribute if you found a easier way.

Don't think cutting into 1 inch cubes will help. I saw the tropica video as well and when I did that, it is very hard to plant deeply and the HC will tend to float up. I will really try and remove from the wool as much as possible and plant it directly into the soil.

If the wool layer is 1st thinned before the cutting. See above picture I took when I extract the hc I bought last year. See how thin the wool

Like that I do agree it would be feasible as root can have some growth.
