Well it is a ordinary day when I decided to give my shrimps the monthly vegetable leaf feast so as usual I when to one of my mums kailan vege and I plucked the leafy part out then after washing with tap water I boiled the leaf for fifteen min which Is a long time as I thought the heat would kill and remove the insecticide of the leaf so after cooking I wash the cook leaf and rinse agian and then put in my fr tank. After work I came back I saw four of my fr up lorry three berried and plus my favorite piece all super sexy red leg one super sad now super regret all shrimp in the tank have eaten the vege and I suspect the vege still have the insecticide inside all my shrimplets still ok only now time will tell. Warn you guys first I think we better don't ever feed these food anymore as we don't know what the vege is planted with what funny stuff.lucky mine is fr but still A LIFE (my feeling now------>) (should I water change or is just removing the leaf ok already?)

remove the leave should be fine.

Incident like this happen from time to time, prolong boiling does not seem to help much.

    Re: Totally regret

If you feed them fresh veggies, it must be from an organic source, or from a source that does not use pesticides.

8 hours is a long time to leave the leaf in the tank. 15 mins is also too long to boil the leaf. You should only dip the leaf in the hot water for a short while just to blanch it, not boil it. This breaks down the fibers and makes it easier for the shrimps to chew on. If you boil it for too long, it will become too soft and mushy, thus it will rot faster.

For those who have doubts, don't risk it. It is simply not worth seeing your shrimps die, when prepared foods are readily available.
