Oh and i totally didnt wash the worms before i fed to my fish. Didnt know i had to. Hope my fish dont get sick! what can i do to salvage things now so sad
Hi all. I have a 40 litres tanl with 3 neon tetras. Decided to feed them with live tubifex worms yesterday. I accidentally dropped a clump of worms into the water. Probably about 20 worms there. Needlesd to say it sank immediately into the gravel and i tried to vacuum it later but not sure if i got them out. Anw tis morning i woke and saw my tank slightly milky. Is tis a bacteria bloom? or due to the tubifex ? my tank has been cycling for 2 weeks but i dont have any test kits too expensive
If it is due to the worms should i leave my water alone or vacuum all my gravel again?

Vacuum your gravel and do a water change. Feeding tubifex worms can be tricky because they need to purge their guts (basically their poop) before you feed them to fishes. They can carry a whole host of diseases so I normally do not feed my fish with tubifex unless I have to. The cloudy water is usually a sign of a bacteria bloom, which may have resulted from the death of the tubifex worms in the gravel.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
Great thank you! the cloudy water is gone and my fish are happily schooling in the tank. I have also switched to habiki frozen bloodworm but it seems they prefer eating the cheap micro pellets haha
